Updates for friends and family on Carol Ann's breast cancer story
We want to thank you for your prayers and help. We hope that this website will be able to provide people with needed communications. This is how the site works - if you would like to see Carol Ann's daily Blog on her status you can click on Blogs to the left and you will see a Blog called "My Status". Here she will share her challenges and updates. You will be able to click on Comments below her posts to add your thoughts that everyone will see. The Blog is set up to only accept registered users comments, so if you would like to join, then please email us or call us and we will add you.
For those who have offered Meals
Many of you have offered to help with Meals which we greatly appreciate. We wanted to provide a calendar where you can go and see what events are happening and also a calendar where you can see where other people have already signed up to bring meals. This way we won't have to have people contacting multiple people to find out what day people are helping. We will also try to block out days that we will be out of the house and a meal might go to waste.
For your information regarding diet for our family. First, we don't have picky children so that is good. Shawn has never met a food that he hasn't digested. Elaine is a good flexible eater, but she is more likely to question the mixing of foods she hasn't seen before. She really likes cheese and we all like fruits. We generally eat less meat than the average family, not because we don't like it but because it is more of a habit. So if Chicken or Meat is needed as an ingredient, then fine but if it is just fruits and veggies then fine as well - Meat doesn't have to be the main staple if you wish. Also Carol Ann's kidney condition has also prevented us from adding significant amount of salt to our foods. So less salt is better, but some is okay.
Now here is how the calendars work. There are two calendars - one for meals and one for activities that we have planned. If you click on the "Calendar" word on the left you will be sent to a page where you can select what calendars you would like to have visible. There is a tab at the top where you can get a pull down menu to check or uncheck the calendars. If you find your way to the meal calendar, you should be able to click on a specific day of the month and in the top corner of that day you should be able to add an event. You just need to type your name and if you wish you can even type what or how you plan to help. Then go to the bottom and select Confirm or Tentative. That should put the event on the calendar and everone else should also be able to see it.
We thank you for your kind deeds, but most of all we thank you for your prayers. So if you want to just send us an email saying that you just prayed for Carol Ann or the family, then that would be great encouragement too. Sometimes we are calm and composed and it can't be explained except perhaps someone added us to their prayers and got us through the challenge of the day.
